Part of my SSIA was transferred into an EBS Growth Fund. I'm considering cashing out of it and taking a loss so that I can re-invest it elsewhere. It was my first and only dalliance with a managed fund. I think I'd be taking a "20% haircut" but i suspect that if I just leave it there and came back 5-10 years later it could still be worth less than I put in.
Does anyone have any opinion on the prospects for this fund in that period?
I normally have the attitude of "long" investment so I'd be happy to leave it there for 10 years if I thought there was a chance of a respectable return.
NB - In 10 years, for a managed fund I'd expect it to double in value for me to consider it a "respectable" return.
