Ebookers flight cost to South America

I'm probably going to go to South America in late july and returning in mid august and ebookers have quoted me the best price by far, about €1100 each Dublin to Madrid on to Santiago and return via Rio de Janeiro Madrid and on to Dublin. Its not bad all in all but for some reason its up €250 cheaper at other times(around March-April) for the exact same flight, its even about a ton cheaper NEXT WEEKEND to go, even after my dates in August its a bit cheaper. Can anyone explain this, I know July-Aug is peak European summer season but its the opposite in SA.

Does that not explain it? Its when most Europeans travel

Its the obvious explaination but there is a drop in prices very shortly before and after late July early August, also Iberia and Air France are going head to head on that same route, all the same I'll hold fire for a little before I book anything.
