Ebay - Negative feedback & abusive comments

I sold an x-box drive on e-bay recently. It was in perfect working order when I posted it, as I had tested it. Also, it was clearly stated in the description that there would be no refunds.

When the buyer received it, he sent a message to state that it would not work for him. I then offered that we would make an exception and offered a refund, less postage but only if he returned the item.

He then immediately left negative feedback, warning other buyers not to buy from me.

This was quickly followed by a private threatening & abusive message, saying that he hoped that I would choke on the money, that I was full of ".....", etc.

I have had only positive feedback to date and I do not want this unwarranted feedback.

Can anything be done to get the feedback removed and also can we report the abusive message to e-bay.

He was probably new to ebay and it was propbably his first couple of purchases. He more than likely had buyer remorse.

It's unfortunate but you will come accross people like this occasionally.

Can you counter his statement stating that you offered a refund?

He was looking for a free XBox by threatening neg feedback hoping you'd refund his money. Common as muck. Report him to Ebay and forget about the 1 neg feedback. As said, stick up your own feedback on his feedback iykwim and that should be enough.

Took your advice and reported the matter to e-bay. They have now removed the negative feedback and have forwarded the complaint to another department who will consider appropriate actions/sanctions. Was very impressed with the swiftness of the response. However, they cannot share the results of the investigation, for privacy reasons, which I can understand. Thanks to all for the advice here.
