ebay.ie, ebay.com & ebay.co.uk. Do they cache each other's results?

Here's a stupid question:
I just wanted to make sure, if i advertise my products on one of these sites (ebay.ie probably is best) and someone searches for the products similar to mine advertised, will the see the results from all domains or just the one they are logged on to?
 
depends on their search criteria - defaults to current site, but an advanced search can span multiple/all sites. Also when you add a listing I think you have control over how extensively it's listed?

Thanks! I've never actually used ebay to sell items before as i couldn't verify my cc. Howerver, it's all done now so i'm looking into selling some stuff on there. Are there any important things to know before doing so?

Not really, its all just common sense. My advice is to start off selling small things to get experience and confidence. Very Bulky or heavy things may not sell too well due to carriage costs. Have fun and save / make money ! Ebay is great.

Do you pack an item first before you advertise? And is there an online way of knowing the charges after I weigh the product?

Sure how would Joe Surfer have a pic of what theyre were buying if you did?
If its new, unused gear, nab some stock photos from the web, else post actual shots with notes of any blemishes.
Box up with plenty of bubble wrap when shipping fragile goods.

Once you identify your method of transport you can get prices from the sites, an post, DHL etc have charges by weight on their sites. Quick dig around will get you there.
 
Haven't sold on ebay, but you do need to be careful here. 2 points:
- one of the basic filter options is "item on ebay.XYZ only". Depending on the item, you may be better listing in ebay.co.uk
- I bought an item on ebay.ie, which didn't even show up on a search of ebay.co.uk (without filters). Not sure how the seller managed to do this. Needless to say I got it at a good price
 
I've regularly sold items on EBay for profits although nothing serious. Always posted on the co.uk site and priced goods for Ireland and UK at same rates as it is same cost. I have had sales from Australia, Dubai, and South America etc from something basic. You have to say whether you will post worldwide and tick the boxes where appropriate for it to have worldwide coverage so its does not matter if it originates from co.uk, ie or com.

Yes always open bids at €0.01 or £.01, it generates much more interest and likely to acheive a greater selling price. But have a hidden reserve. "Buy it now" is another option but as soon as people start to bid this dies and will cost you. Do not verify yourself with paypal, their comission charge is higher. Be registered for paypal but not verified, less commison costs. Use the extra photo option 15cents per extra photo handy for selling non-generic goods such as clothing etc.

Take a pic or two, then get it packed, then all you need to do is put the address on it and pay an post and sed it.

I HAVE a verified PayPal a/c yet ebay states it as being unverified and blocks me from posting a listing. It say "To update your a/c in the ebay details" got to "My Ebay" then tells me to go to "PayPal Account" under "My account" of course it is not there! Am i missing something or it just "Typically Irish"?

would agree with a lot of the comments,
low starting price important - generates interest and you will have more bidders
no reserve - generates more interest, only use a reserve if you think there may be not enough interest to get the price you want to sell at
use the completed listings to see what it is worth on ebay and gauge interest on that product - also gives ideas about descriptions that may work best.

best time to list is for your auction to finish at an aftenoon during the week.


always use a clear photo

start selling small things, you wont get many bids on larger items without the positive references.

Just got 2 more question then I should be ok.

How do I enter the postage cost so it automatically show up when somebody views the product?

How do I display that I am able to post to anywhere on the globe? Currently it says "Post to: United Kingdom" But i've seen on other ppl's products a list of continents they are able to post to.
