Hi,

Just wondering can anyone offer some advice on the following:

I recently opened an ebay account. I placed a bid on two items however when I went to bid on the second item my credit card details were requested when I hit the confirm bid icon. I entered my details as requested. However I have emailed ebay several times to query this and they have not replyed to me. I did not have a pay pal account set up yet. Has this happened to anyone before when biding on more than one item at the same time?

I really just want to reassure myself on the issue.

Thanks

I just copied this from the eBay answer centre.

"Sellers can block bidders with feedback of 5 or less from bidding on their auctions unless they have a credit card on file and as you have no feedback yet this could be the case.

Sellers can do this especially if they are selling high price items which people try to scam like mobiles, laptops etc."

Thanks for the reply Hoagy,

I presume this must be it. I take it its ebay hold these details? Just getting a little worried when they have not replied to me.

Ebay are not good at replying, although when my account was hacked they swung into action and then informed me. I didn't know as I hadn't used it in a while. There is a discussion forum which is good for getting answers, you'll find it under the "community" or "discussion forum" tab.

It also may depend on what type of payment the seller of the item accepts. All sellers must now accept PayPal

"We now require all sellers to accept PayPal and sellers of higher-risk items to accept PayPal only"
