Ease of access to deposit accounts

I have an Installment Savings account with An Post. However, they only issue statements twice a year and they won't give a balance update over the phone. You have to fill out and post a form and then wait seven days to make a withdrawal. (I'm beginning to sound like an impatient youngfella here!)

Would something like a KBC account with online access to balances etc give me more control of my savings?

More control? Yes, absolutely.
