Hi all

Can someone explain to me why if a person has all the required stamps was told by social welfare that they will not get the full JB (ie 204) due to them earning too much last year when working a 3 months contract. They will only get €132 or else they can claim for JA.

I have never heard about this before. Is this correct?

Thanks.

They said that over the course of the 3 months too much money was earned and that the person was only entitled to 132 a wk.

I wouldnt believe it myself only I was there.

Your JB entitlement is based on contributions made in 2007 not 2008

Go back to SW and ask for a written explanation.

This is news to me

The rate of €132 is a Graduated Rate where the weekly earnings have been calculated as being within a certain band.

Perhaps the person worked for 3 months and earned a lot, but when it's divided over the year to calculate weekly earnings, it works out as not enough to qualify for full rate JB.

The graduated rates can be found here
