EA flyer: 3 people interested in buying houses on our street including ours! Gimmick?

Had a flyer the other day from a local EA, stating that they had 3 people interested in buying houses on our street, including ours.

Now it is a fairly exclusive street in Dublin and we are thinking of downsizing in a few years, but would i be mistaken if I got my hopes up that there was genuine interest in the house or is this just a gimmick by the EA to drum up some business in difficult times?

gimmick. Are there any houses currently for sale on the street? Is this a standard leaflet or does it have you name or house number or street name on it?

No houses currently for sale in our size and style, but it is a standard leaflet.

When I lived in London , I used to get them all the time from nearly every EA in our area. I always just recycled the leaflets. If your curious there is no harm in making contact.

No houses currently for sale in our size and style, but it is a standard leaflet.

ask one of your neighbours with the different size & style, I'm sure they'll have gotten the same leaflet.

We used to get these (when EA's could sell a house) and there are about 500 identical house in our estate and always at least 15 for sale!

What I don't understand is how this could benefit the EA now that house prices are collapsing? Surely they want less houses on their books, not more?

Why would they want less?

Surely the more houses on their books,the greater selection they have and therefore increase the likelihood of them selling a house ?

Definitely the more the merrier, its just you want houses that are more likely to sell and not a glut of apartments etc.

Surely the more houses on their books,the greater selection they have and therefore increase the likelihood of them selling a house ?

I would have thought the scarcity factor would have dictated the likelihood of a sale, but then again, I never did understand the Irish property market.
