I am looking at this car tomorrow - it was imported in May 2005
So i am a bit wary about buying it privateley. The Local Merc dealer in Limerick will not carry out a survey on the car - vague reason about not wanting to take responsibilty for the car etc.

Is there any alternative to the AA to get some piece of mind?

The Merc warranty I would have thought would cover all Europe. If your local Merc dealer won't cover it then bring it up with Merc head office

Check it out carefully and get a full AA mechanical check.

If it is a UK import check out the service history and phone the garage where it was serviced in the UK.

Do a history check on www.hpi.co.uk to check for any crash damage, outstanding finance and mileage discrepency.
