Hi all,

Anyone got any experience of the above company from Canada ? I was purchasing dvd's for a while but now they have cancelled all orders and put a credit against ones account (that one cannot use incidentally), increased the price of dvd's if you do actually want to re-order and are very sluggish to reply to e-mails when questioned about their intentions.

I have used them twice - First time delivery was within a week. Second time they were out of stock and had to order from their supplier and while there was a delay of six weeks they did reply to my emails promptly and I didn't mind waiting as nobody else had that particular DVD.

Incidentally twice recently I have found dvd.co.uk to be cheaper (even with GBP £1 postage) than the North American sites and selling dvds cheaper than what showed up against them when searching dvdpricecheck.co.uk

DVDSOON were one of my favorites. However my opinion has changed somewhat.

My situation is best explained by inserting a copy of my communication with AIB who should be able to get my money back.

Here goes:

My last 3 transactions with www.dvdsoon.com were taking ages. Ordered late June / Early July.

I did write to them by email about delays and they said that they were having difficulty with the suppliers but the items would be sent. Have used them many times in the past and had no reason to doubt them. I didn’t keep copies of these e-mails.

Then they announced that they were cancelling my orders because of a new payment system and that they were giving me a non-refundable credit (copy) enclosed. They also introduced new terms and conditions surrounding these credits

(a) They used to refund to the credit card if asked through a form. This option has been removed.
(b) They now will only refund the credit if you spend 4 times the credit ( i.e. I am owed 60.18 Canadian Dollars. I have to spend 240.72 CAD but they will charge me 180.54 CAD for this. If I don’t spend this my credit will expire.

The following is an extract from their new terms and conditions which I understand contradicts VISA policy
Non-refundable credits
A non-refundable credit will be issued for all product replacement request. The credits available in your account can be applied to your future purchases.
Using non-refundable credits
Since non-refundable credits can be used on products only, all other charges (e.g. shipping fees) will be applied to your chosen method of payment. Also, you may only use your DVDSoon credit for up to 25% of the total of the order.
Non-refundable credits are valid for 1 year after it has been issued.
Refunds
No refunds will be issued by DVDSoon.com.
Order cancellation
DVDSoon.com reserves the right to cancel any order, at any time.

Other Peoples Experiences

All clients are in the same boat and chargebacks are being processed worldwide

The first site is where DVDSOON used to answer clients questions in the past. They have gone very quite and won’t answer any questions regarding refunds to credit cards.

I am also attaching an e-mail that I sent to them asking to refund me via my credit card. They have not replied.

If you need anything else please send me an e-mail or give me a call.

AIB Visa refunded my card last week. I believe your right to a chargeback (getting money back via visa ) runs out after 120 days. You have to demonstrate you've made an effort to contact the seller. But this is the route to go down imho.

Re: FYI - DVD SOON

Received from DVDSOON today

Take a look here for up to date info - tried to get on their website and no joy. I ordered a cd on May 3rd and no sign of it (as I heard they were back on track). On to the credit card company tomorrow me thinks.
