Dundalk - refuse collections

How do the refuse collections in the town of Dundalk work? I was told that you had to pay each quarter to get a sticker for your black bin. Is there an alternative if it would take you several weeks to fill the bin? Where do you pay / how much is it?

Is the green bin collection free? What can you put in there? Paper, cardboard, cans?

I've also seen some red bins. What are they for?

Louth county council do not provide a refuse collection scheme in Dundalk, you must use the services of a private collector like www.oxigen.ie or you can bring your refuse to the civic Amenity Centre on the newry road.

Dundalk Town Council are linked from the Louth County Council website on the left hand side under Your Council. When you go to [broken link removed] and then click on Environment it brings you to [broken link removed] and if you click on the Waste Management link on the left hand side of that page it brings you to the page that I linked above.
