HI
Here's an unusual one.I took in a rather dilapidated €20 last week in my shop(it had been washed in jeans) Now after examining it I was 99.5% sure in was genuine.I've been handling money for 25 years and I know a dud when I see one.But my banks infrared machine rejected it. Do I have any other option (as I believe the bank is wrong here) but to take their word on this.It was given back to me marked counterfeit.
What can I do?

I thought banks were obliged to hold on to Counterfeit money - check with local Gardai maybe ?

Did you take in the note while being .5% unsure that it was real?

That is enough for you to reject it.

Do you know who gave you the note?

If it is so good, then I would imagine that the Central Bank would love to see it to alert others to them.
