Looking for directions from Drumcondra Train Station to Bon Secours Hospital. If I go past the Smurfit factory heading towards the Airport, am i going in the right direction. Where do I go from there?

How far is it and how long would it take to walk?

Thanks

[broken link removed] ~This is a map, so it looks like its near the Met office in Glasnevin. I'd say it's take no more than half an hour to walk it

I'm not sure where the Smurfit plant is, but if you're heading for the airport then I think you're wrong.

Also I'm not sure where in Drumcondra the station is but I reckon it's beside the railway bridge .

If I'm correct, then I would head left towards the airport, then take the left along Botanic Avenue to track the Tolka River heading west towards the Botanic Gardens.

When you come to the T-junction with Glasnevin Hill, facing the Botanics, with the church on your right, take the right turn and the Bons Secours is on the right, about halfway up the hill, before you get to the Met Office.

Try [broken link removed] with Upper Drumcondra Road as a start and the Botanic Gardens as a finish. That should indicate the route for you.

Or get a taxi

You're nearly there. About 200m past the Smurfit factory you come to a major junction - keep left (think it's called Glasnevin Hill. Don't go up Mobhi Road). Walk for about 200 meters - Botanic gardens on the left and past Our Ladys church on the right - over the Tolka. Walk for about another 100m and you'll see it on the right hand side. If you reach Met Eireann you've gone too far.
I would guesstimate 30 mins from Drumcondra station.

Is the Smurfit factory near Cross Guns bridge ?

If so, and the OP knows how to get from train station to there, then the rest, as you advise, is easy.

Close enough. If you travel north from cross guns you'll come to a fork in the road- left brings you to Finglas and the right will bring you to Ballymun.Take the right and the smurfit factory is about 200m up there

I'd get the bus they're pretty frequent - Bon Secours hospital would be a good walk from Drumcondra station - probably about 30 mins ?

The number 13s & the number 4 would go past the entrance to Bon Secours ... The #11 would drop you not too far away either (some of them might go past it not sure) .... You could get the train to Drumcondra and then get the 11 or 13 from there (not the 4 though that doesn't go past the train station)

If you do want to walk it I wouldn't go past Smurfit's ... i'd walk from the station out the Drumcondra road to Fagan's (just before the river tolka bridge).. then go left down Botanic Avenue (along the river) ... then right up Mobhi road (uphill to your right at the cross roads with the traffic lights)

.. then ask Bertie's Garda driver to take you the rest of the way while the Taoiseach finishes up his pint of Bass .

Hello Sim,

well you've got your directions. So it's, left, left and and right *s*.

Left out of the station door>>>>>>>towards Fagans Pub (which is on a corner) turn left at that corner onto Botanic Avenue >>>>>>>>go through the junction of Botanic Avenue and Mobhil Road >>>>you will come to a T junction then turn right at that junction, past the Church and voila the Bon Secours is five minutes from there.... got it? Left, Left and Right.

There's a restaurant there where you can have something to eat, if you wish. It's in the main hospital.

Cheers

Following on from my trip to Bon Secours, I now need to know what is the nearest DART Station to the Blackrock Clinic?

Sim

Hello Again Sim ,

Take the 45, 7 or 8 including variants from, the quays, in front of the clifton court hotel. Alternatively take the Dart to Blackrock and walk back about 5-10mins throgh Blackrock Park

I just found that on the Board i.e. site. Borzoi posted it there originally. Hope this helps.

If this information is out of date I'm sure someone more familiar with the area will say so.

Cheers for now

*major* road works on the Rock Road for the next few months, so don't think of taking a bus from town as you will be stuck in traffic for an unknown (but long) amount of time.

The walk from Booterstown or Blackrock DART stations is pleasant and about 10-15 minutes.
