It's my first time entering the DCC draw and although the chances of getting a place are slim, I'm just wondering is is okay to turn a place down if they offer it to you or do they leave you out of the next draw or something?
A few of the places listed have prices say, €220,000-€250,000 with the €220,000 being affordable but the €250,000 nearing market value so if I was offered something on the higher end of the price scale I wouldn't want to take it since I could go private at that cost.

Thanks. :)

Hi Kara,

I am in the same boat, first time (finally after all the DCC messing about) entering the draw however i don't know if i will take any offers unless it was a really big nice apartment very central...i can almost afford to go private and since there is no clawback if i go private its not very appealing anymore.

As far as i know if you are offered somewhere and turn it down you do not go back into the draw straight away.. they will offer you 2 more places before you get put back into the draw. I.e you get 3 turn downs before you get reentered.

If you can go private, is there any real reason to consider AH?

Yes, there's a low deposit but from experience it may not be worth the hassle. You cannot rent out the property if your circumstances change (family, job etc.) and then there's the clawback, the problem changing lender etc.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

i logged on to the website and made some selections but was a bit confused in terms of making preferences.

Should my selections have been ranked i.e. tick my first choice first?

I just got an email today from DCC to say ive been offered an apartment in Ashtown, am so excited, just scurrying around to get mortgage in principle, anyone else get offered there?
