Is there any stats available in Ireland as to how many people are in prison based on drug related offences?
I was reading a poll on the BBC in which someone stated that the number of people in prison on drug related offences in the UK is quite high. There weren't any stats or anything to back it up.
So it got me thinking, are there stats in Ireland on this? And if so, are the numbers high? Could it be 30%? 50%? Anyone got any ideas?
Because if the percentage is high, then this is an area we need to look at, and we obviously need to do something different because what we are doing currently isn't working. But I guess you could say that about a lot of things!
