Hi,

Have a Saturday afternoon wedding to attend in Killarney in a couple of weeks.

Can anyone tell me if the AA's estimate of 3hrs 45 minutes is about accurate for the drive time between Dublin and Killarney. (We'd more than likely be leaving earlyish on the Saturday morning)

Thanks,

M

No I would add at least an hour to that. The AA estimate doen't take account of road works, delays etc. I have always found it's taken me much longer especially for longer journeys.

If you are leaving early on a Saturday morning you will do it it around 4 hours assuming there are no major roadworks or accidents.

Drove as far as Newcastle West on Friday in 2hrs 30mins from M50 - no breaking speed limits. Since they got rid of the lights on the Naas road and bypassed Limerick it's a doddle. It's about 1 hour to Killarney from there so you'll easily do it in 4 hours on a Saturday morning. There are no major bottlenecks on the road anymore since they bypassed Monasterevin.

I agree with the above. Early Saturday morning approx 4 hours, Friday evening approx 5 hours.

Dont leave it too tight though as traffic in Farranfore (10mins from Killarney) is a nightmare this week due to road works.
