drive shaft

please help i have an opel corsa sxi may 08. my drive shaft is gone. i'm wondering is this normal for a car with 16000 miles on it.is it serious .

This can happen if the rubber gaiter surrounding the shaft splits and lets lubrication out and grit and moisture in. It can happen at any stage by hitting a rock, pothole, driving up on a kerb, or hitting road debris. Usually inspections at regular servicing can spot split gaiters (or boots) and replace them before the damage to the shaft happens. This is one of the downsides of FWD engines.
