My drain is blocked. I cannot open the screw. At top in circle Does anyone know what sort of head it is . Is it one that has been broken?. I have never touched it before it was ever opened before. I tried several

the water level is to be seen up to top

If you can't get it off can you use some sort of hooked probe - even jerry-rigged if necessary(e.g. wire coat hanger) - to remove the blockage (which, I presume, is most likely leaves/moss etc.?) via the slots in the drain cover?

i'm going to try that tomorrow but the slots are very narrow .
I want to be able to open it. is it a screw or one of those things that is not meant to come out i cannot think of the name, edit - rivet?

It looks like it might be a torx head?

Worst case scenario you can drill it out; make sure you have a drill bit suitable for metal.

You'll likely have to replace the drain cover but that won't break the bank.

could be torx but i could not find any torx to fit it. Yes it seems will have to drill it out.

i don't mind buying one. Thanks. if anyone else has any suggestions please post

WD40 and / or kettle of boiling water? Try a set of allen keys & see if you can get one to fit?

Have you tried using a phillips/torx screwdriver, which is the closest fit, and applying as much downward bodyweight as possible on the screw while simultaneously turning it?

I've found this works in the past.

If you have to resort to using a drill, for safety's sake use a battery-powered drill rather than a mains-powered one.
