Due to presence of smallie boys alot of our house decisions are made with brochures/online investigation so trips to the North are out. Dublin is about as far as we'd feasibly manage. We both like a door from the above range. Have heard the quality is fab which is important as this is our forever house. Prices are a bit scary at E200 - E300 per unit. (need 20).

Any comments/suggestions on where to get best price. (meeting a small time supplier in Co Wexford tomorrow). But had been planning to visit Barefoot on Friday. Is a trip to Doors Ireland worth considering?

I can second the Doras range. We got 12 of the oak ones with frosted glass, from O'Halloran Joinery in Cork.

One thing though, the doors may be €200, but the ironmongery, (handles, scutchens (sp?), locks, hinges etc. will set you back another €200~250. Also factor in the frames, arcatraves and skirtings.

If you go with wooden doors, you will probably go for wooden arcatraves and skirting.

Factor in about €75 per frame, and same again for arcatraves. Oak skirting was €3 per foot.

Worked out about €500 per door for us.
