Don't know what camcorder to buy?

Hi,
would be very grateful of advice regarding getting a new camcorder.
I have had the same camcorder for over 12 years, so it has had its day and I really need a new one.
I am confused with all these HDD, Mini DV and DVD ones.
Would love if someone could recommend one for me. I would like a user friendly one, it is just for filming my kids as they grow up.
I want one that is easy to record to dvd disc.
I will possibly pay up to €500, and don't really mind what make (although I have had no problems with Canon in the past).
Just want to be able to have a library of discs filled with footage.

Can't offer advice as I am also trying to decide which camcorder to buy.I have looked at hard drive ones in Dixons, the SonyDCRSR33E 600 euro approx 30 GB-HD,,extra 30 euro you will get 10Gb extra total 630 euro. I also looked at JVC GZMG142EK 30 GB 500 euro.Do not know anything about these 2 makes.
