Donating wheelchair

I have an electric wheel chair that I would like to donate. Maybe a carers home or even a hospital. Can anyone recommend a place? Thanks

Electric wheelchairs are quite specialised and it sounds like it was fitted specifically for someone, so therefore wouldn't be optimum for a hospital.

So somewhere like Central Remedial Clinic in Clontarf or Enable Ireland which as branches all over Ireland. These places have specialised seating clinics which can refit and refurb the chair for someone else.

Actually, The hospital possibly will NOT take it!! We had some stuff after my dad passed away & the hospital was very reluctant to take any of it.

There was a brand new walker & they said it may have some unseen damage so would be in a position to take it for H&S reasons.

There was a chair lift which the HSE had paid most of & they didn't want to know, it ended up being scrapped (which was shameful - we also called the manufacturer and wouldn't take it or reinstall it elsewhere if we got someone to take it. )

The only thing they took was a chair, and even with that, they made it seem like they were doing us a favour.

You'd probably be better contacting a nursing home or a related charity who may know someone who could get use of it.

Try asking the Irish Wheelchair Association, or the Multipole Sclerosis Society of Ireland.

Thanks for the replies guys

Sam h: I tried to donate it to the local hospital and they didn't want to know either!

Ophelia: Irish wheel chair association seems like the best place, never even thought about them.
