Does anyone track Viral epidemics and publish results online?

Half serious shot in the dark here...

I'm ill with some bug I picked up last week... started as a sore throat and now it's a stomach thing. Nasty little devil & driving me mad.

So I was thinking. Every so often a virus works it's way across the country, and doctors waiting rooms fill up. It's never anything life-threatening, like Birdflu or AIDS (God forbid)... just a blooming nusiance that costs a fortune in XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and time wasted, and everyone you talk to says, "Oh, that's doing the rounds at the moment."

Does any medical body keep track of these things and publish the latest online? Something with info about typical symptoms, best treatment, and how long it lasts?

I know that a recent edition of National Geographic has an interesting graphic showing the spread of West Nile Virus across the US.

You could try the CDC website in the US.

Thank you both very much... interesting (and scarey) reading on those websites.

Feeling better this evening.
