Hey....
I am 19 and currently working in a creche for the last two years. I've really been thinking about becoming a primary school teacher but I am discouraged straight away when I think about going back to school to repeat irish and maths in my leaving certificate as I did ordinary level irish and foundation level maths. I heard that you might be able to do it with Hibernia College but I'm not sure what way to go about it? If anyone could let me know that'd be great

I think you need a degree to do the Hibernian course.

There is a massive overhang of unemployed primary teachers in the country at the moment and this is not likely to change for a long time.

The Teaching and Lecturing forum on Boards.ie might be of interest to you; it has a Q&A sticky at the top of the page which discusses alternative routes, including the UK. But it's true that prospects at the moment are very meagre.
