Does a mortgage decline result in bad credit history?

I would like to find out what mortgage I would be approved for.

However I don't want to go through with the application if a mortage decline would result in a nagetive on an ICB report.

Can anyone clarify if there permanent records with the ICB of mortgage applications?

a decline will not mark you on the icb

All it shows on your icb is a trace(search done)

but most mortgage applications ask you if you have "ever been refused a mortgage" so you need to ask a broker what would it mean for your application if you had previously been refused.
