does anyone know if a van needs a DOE

The van is a 1991 converted ford fiesta car 1.3 (3 door) it was converted in 2005 and DOE tested, insurance company requested it to ensure that it was converted correctly

The van is insured as a commercial vehicle.

The van is taxed as a private vehicle.

When the car was purchased it had a valid NCT cert to July 2007.

Someone help. OH says doesnt need DOE, the insurance co did not request this year. its been taxed since conversion, but using form sent by tax office. should the van be taxed commercially?

or will it be due an NCT in July 2007?

Nope, these don't require DOE, just NCT. Vans in general, whether car derived or otherwise don't require DOE certification.

Should be taxed commercial. I used to have a renault 19 van. DOE done every 2 years.

I would imagine this shoul be the same.

Why did you convert a 91 fiesta from car to a van??
I would have thought you could have picked one up for next to nothing

no found it imopossibly to get an older van, lots of 98/99 models around, but no vans. only get insurance as van, works as carpenter

Sorry mate but you are way off there. All standard commercial vehicles require a DOE cert - be they a fiesta van or a transit. I used to run a transport co. and all vehicles from the car van up to the 20ft truck had to be DOE'd.

Folks company runs three vans, not aware of any of them having undergone doe. Maybe they don't hold on to them long enough!
