Hi
Myself and husband have two separate current accounts and are happy with this situation as is . I do not have a cheque book with my account he does. I would like to be able to write cheques from his account the odd time - To be honest it would be very infrequent I would need to do this.
Do we need to open a joint account in order to be able to do this or can he just authorise me to be able to write cheques from his account ?
Thanks

No you don't need a joint account, but you do need to fill out a form giving him permission to sign cheques. Ask your bank for this. I have this situation as years ago I set up a current account, he didn't, and then we decided it made sense for him to be able to write cheques on this account. Quite amusing to see his signature above a clearly female name...
