Do travel/airline websites remember your details?

Are your details remembered by travel and airline websites every time you log on, so that the price increases each subsequent time you check prices? I checked a last minute holiday today and it cost €1200 (inclusive of everything), 2 hours later when I went to book it it cost €50 more. If so, can you in some way delete your record of ever having visited such sites?
Thanks

There is some truth in it although many here will deny it.

Delete your cookies and change your ip address. Check again in work and see.

Unplug and restart your router or simply disconnect and reconnect. Delete your cookies first.

Or try using an anonymizing proxy - Google for that if you don't know what it is.

Pardon my across the board theci ignorance but what is a cookie. I travel to visit family a few times a year and want the cheapest possible flights.
