Do the Banks prefer to issue Car Loans via the Car sales rooms.

3 years ago my loan application through the Car sales room was approved overnight.
Decided this time to apply directly to the bank. My application was accepted without issue, then 6 days later nothing!.
I've been left in an embarrassing situation with the Car salesman, having to assure him there is no issue re my credit rating .
And of course, unable to speak to anybody at the bank.
Anybody else experience this loan senario.
 
Probably 2 completely different products.
If you arrange finance through a garage, it's Hire Purchase - technically you don't own the car, just renting it, so if you default the car is repossessed.

I'm assuming you've just applied for an unsecured personal loan with a bank?

Which bank is it? The main ones are usually pretty quick.
