Do single people ever get offered 2-3 bedroomed properties with DCC?

As a single person and if I applied for only two or three bedroomed properties with DCC, would I be less likely to be offered a property? In other words, are for example, three bedroomed properties kept for families or couples? If thats the case it doesn't give us singletons much scope for having a family in the future does it?

I am single, and I only ticked all two beds, got offer of a two bed place in the docklands. The more I find out about affordable housing the more it seems to me that the majority of people that apply for it are single. So when you are filling in your DCC preference form only tick two beds, of course this will mean that you will be entering less draws (as you will not be entered for one beds) so your chances of being selected will be less. If you are selected then you will be offered a two bed. Make sure you can finance the guide price in the news letter for the two bed you select or you may get an offer that you can’t finance. You can get an idea on what you can borrow by calling any of the lenders. There are very few three beds on the scheme so the best you can probably hope for would be a two bed. So there is hope ....

Hi there,
I bought a three bed through DCC about 2 years ago as a single person. It came down to the fact that I could afford a bigger Mortgage and so had the option of a two or three bed. Best of luck with it.

once you qualify its the luck of the draw - a bit unfair IMO as i was offered a one bed top floor appartment despite having a young child but its the luck of the draw i suppose

Thanks for the advice. Thats fantastic news. I really didn't fancy the idea of a one bed and I should be able to finance a two bedroom property. I realise its pretty unfair to those with children. However, as a single person, its a relief that I don't have to be stuck with one bed for the foreseeable future. Still waiting for the newsletter from DCC. Here's hoping it arrives soon! It really is a waiting game.

Yeh I thought we'd need to start popping sprogs to get a 3-bed but its all about the money, couples can get 3-beds!
