Do Irish (or any) credit cards offer free car rental insurance?

Reading up on car rental today as a novice, it seems that lots of credit cards do, or at least did, offer free car rental insurance so that I don't have to pay for insurance when I rent my car?

Is this the case with any Irish or UK credit cards?

Think this only applies to American cards.

And car rental companies over here tend not to offer their cars without insurance.
