I was just on to PTSB who say they dont lend to people buying a home in England, do any Irish bank lend for this purpose. Why would the others have a different attitude? Will English banks lend to Irish people buying in England? I have a Northern Rock account here would that be of any use to me applying to their UK operation for a mortgag for example?
speak with Capital Homeloans (Permanent TSB subsidiary) in Isle of Man also. They do mortgages for Uk properties also; rates a bit keener than IIBs but with more stringent criteria to qualify in general (e.g. 125% rental cover)
First Trust which has branch in Newry do a 90% loan to value for the first time buy to let investors. Interest rate is I think 1.25% above base rate and there are set up fees of about £650 stg.
We found them the most competitive and they are very pleasant to deal with and seem to be very keen on getting the business
