do i need to check laptop for malware /virus after pc shop repair

i recently had to leave my laptop in to local pc repair shop ,if they had installed malware/keyloggers/ etc etc ,would my anti virus software detect them (avast free)or what would i need to do ?

You could run MalwareBytes if you're concerned. What kind of repair did they do?

turned out it was a hardware problem but they had to go into windows to rule out it was not software problem that was at fault

why would they install a keylogger? install malwarebyes and do a full scan after that review your windows firewall exceptions to see if their are any open ports that look suspicious but tbh i cannot see why they would install such software.
