Do I need planning permission?

I have a standard semi-detatched house with a garage. I am thinking of converting garage into a room. Do I need to apply for planning permission for this?
 
Nah you don't need planning for the work you want to do unless you are extending out/putting velux in the front roof etc, other than that burst on !
 
Depends on a number of factors, see this previous thread. A quick phone call to your planning authority should clarify.
