Do I need planning permission to change windows

You should advise the planning department. It might seem trivial, but it actually does matter. For example if all houses on your road have the 4*3 windows and that is what you have in your plan and then you go and install 6*2 then you *might* get an enforcement issue if one of your neighbours takes a dislike to your windows and had studied the plans. Unlikely, but possible.

I recently applied for planning. In the application the architect put the wrong type of windows into the final plans. The windows will still be the same width and height but the actual panes will be divided differently. An example would be that instead of 4*3 panes of glass I want 2*6 foot pane of glass.
Will I need to reapply for PP with this change?

Dont think so.
Ring the local planning office, they can confirm verbally.
Why not ask your architect?

very sad I know. but the architect didn't know and I have fully paid and finished dealing with him now.
