do I need a plumber?

I'm getting to the stage where my duplex is coming up to eight years old and things are starting to go wrong. It's a ground and first floor, with two bathrooms on the first.

Over the last few weeks I've noticed that the main bathroom toilet takes longer to fill with just a constant drip drip into the cistern. It does fill but only after an hour. I've tried messing around with the little white tap thing in the cistern but to no avail.

The ensuite one is fine. In that cistern I can turn the tap thing and get a good water flow if needed. My dad told me it must be the tank (which is at the same level as I have no attic but I can't figure out how it would only affect one.

Not helped by the fact I had the winter vomiting bug and the last thing I wanted to be doing was looking down toilets.

Do I need a plumber? In enthusiasm I paid off my credit card this week and the management fee and could do without expense, as the fridge is also making strange noises!

Any ideas?

thanks for the link, but I ended up getting an amazing reliable and cheap plumber - miracle! He also did a couple of other small plumbing jobs around the place - €40 in total
