do i have to pay for answering machine on a new cordless phone?

Hi.
I am in the market for a new home phone and am keen on a panasonic cordless dect with answering machine.

If i get a phone with an answering machine do i have to pay my service provider for using the answering machine or does the unit itself do it with a small hard drive or whatever. I cant justify the extra cost if i have to pay vodafone at home to use the answering machine built into the phone

I have vodafone at home and opted out of their answering service as it's on my cordless phone station already. Just give em a ring and tell them you dont need it. But double check your bill to make sure they do it. I had to call them more than once.

no. you dont have to pay for using an answering machine. The only reason you would pay would be if you had a mailbox set up with your provider.
