A friend from the UK recently died and left me (irish resident) a quater of his estate amounting to €200,000. In the UK they tax the estate 40% after a threshold amount and then the money is distributed to the donees.
I am aware that I should have to pay CAT (based on the section C status) but am I entitled to a tax credit for tax already charged on the estate in the UK?
Any help with regard to this would be great.
