Do I give SW my P45

im on illness benefit for the last 5 weeks & was also made redundant last week im not fit to return to work yet do i hand in my p45 now to the social welfare so that i will be paid job seekers allowance when i come off sick leave & start looking for another job

Bring your P45 to the local SW office when you are well enough to sign on. There's no need to send it anywhere before then.

I can't see why SW need your P45 now as you are on Illness Benefit.

If you intend looking for a job before your Illnes Benefit finishes you may be going to a new job directly following Illness Benefit. In that case you would be giving that P45 to new employer.

I don't think SW asked for it. The OP is just enquiring if it would be prudent to bring it in now rather than when/if they are making a Jobseeker's claim.
