Do guys still ask for daughters hand in marraige

Just wondering do guys still ask for daughters hand-in Marraige or is that a bit dated?

I did, it was more nerve wracking than asking my wife. He lives abroad so I had to do it over the phone, try and throw that into casual conversation. She was delighted that I asked him though. Call me old fashioned..

My husband asked my parents first-not that he was expecting a no! Its a little old fashioned- but I liked that he did!
I think just asking the Dad alone is a bit dated-

My husband did, but I'd told him that it would mean a lot to my father. It's old fashioned, but a lot of fathers still see their daughters as 'Daddy's little girl'. He also had to do it over the phone!
