Do any Orthodontists in Dublin operate Saturday hours?

Hi

I want to get a brace on my botton arch. Went for the inital consultation yesterday and wasn't too happy with it for various reasons. Anyhow, the major drawback to getting it done with the orthodontist I had the consultation with is that he only operates one day a week, and only until the late afternoon. This doesn't really suit me with work etc... so I would be interested to know if anyone knows of an Orthodontist in Dublin with Saturday hours?

Also, in the current economic climate do you think €3,000 is reasonable for a brace on one arch?

seems pretty high, my daughters cost 3800e for both top and bottom, she has them on since March of last year, maybe another 7/8 months to go before they come off, that included one tooth extraction also.. unfortunately her orthondontist doesnt sit on a sat i dont think, but we go up to co monaghan as our dentist also sits in same practice, are you northside or southside, that may help if people reading your post. susan

I'm on the Northside but I would have no problem attending someone on the Southside if they had Saturday hours, or at least late opening on weekdays.

The €3,000 I was quoted was for a brace for 12 to 18 months. I was hoping for something more in the region of €2,000 to €2,400. I have trawled through the sites offering the 6 month braces but, again, they seem very expensive. I think €3,000 to €3,800 would be fine if I was getting both arches done ... but I'm only getting one and don't need any extractions etc...

exactly.. there is a new practice which opened in swords and ive heard good things about it, i will get the phone number off the sign ive seen on my way home, you can ask if they sit on saturdays.. will post it on here for you when i get a chance later

i know this dentist in ashtown (navan rd) opens on saturdays, but cant recommend as havent been yet

I'll check both of those dentists out If I am going to shell out a small fortune on braces I at least don't want to have to take loads of time off work to do it! Can't understand how dentists in this country can get away with charging such exorbitant prices. I have already spent €850 on a root canal this year. If it wasn't so inconvenient I would definitely get dental treatment abroad, and I would do it with no qualms whatsoever. I don't give a flying duck about being patriotic - it's hardly patriotic of dentists in this country to charge an arm and a leg for treatment anyway I lived in Spain for a while and the dentists there were excellent and at least half the price of what we pay here. It drives me nuts when Irish dentists come along and say that the standard of training etc... abroad is not of the same "high standard" as here. Such bullsh*t! Dentists were being trained in Budapest and Barcelona way before they ever were in this country! I hope lots of "foreign" dentists eventually set up direct practices in Ireland. Competition is everything.

will you be travelling to spain at all? would you not think of getting them done over there? cheapy flights etc?
