i've been building up the courage to take on a bigger job than i've tried before - i want to try to insulate our back bedroom. it's a smallish room, maybe 2.5 x 3 metres.

is it something i really should leave to a pro? i'm pretty handy, can can do most things around the house (installed the shower, put in the kitchen except for the plumbing, that sort of thing), but this is a bit of a step into the unknown.

i keep reading about Kingspan Kooltherm K17. would this be the best to use? do i need a separate vapour barrier even though it says it has vapour protection. where do i buy it?

any hints or tips would be gratefully received!!!!!

also; only two of the walls are exterior walls - should i only do these, or is it best to do the whole room?

cheers,

tom

before specifying a build method, you would need to ascertain what construction already exists in the external walls?? Is it a cavity wall or cavity block? is there full fill insulation of board insulation?? mineral wool, polystyrene or foam? Is there good ventilation in the room?

it's an edwardian house, i'm pretty sure it's just brick under the existing plaster, no cavity or anything. there's render on the outside of the house, so i can't really tell, but from work in the other rooms, i reckon it must be just brick.

yes, the ventilation is good in the room.
