Ditch broker and get mortgage direct from bank

Hi,

I have been dealing with a broker for the past few months, I got a full loan offer which has since expired so need to apply for a mortgage again. I had signed contracts based on the original loan offer.

My question is, can I go and get a mortgage from another lender and forget about the brokers?
BOI are doing a special deal through work and it's a better offer then I could get with the brokers.

Thanks,
Neil.

You will need to discuss your options with your solicitor if you intend to amend your contract in order to put alternative financing in place. As you will be going through the application process again, the vendor will have to agree to delay. If both of you have signed your contracts already I strongly suspect you have missed the boat.

You can get a mortgage from whomsoever you wish but did you sign a contract with the broker? If you did no doubt a fee will have to be paid for his work.

I've had the mortgage broker debate on here before - without getting into all that again (or the merits of buying a house at the moment), when I was looking to buy last year, the best rate by far was from National Irish Bank who don't deal with mortgage brokers.
