Disposing of old gas cooker.

Is there any easy way of disposing of an old gas cooker? As it does not have an electric plug presume it cannot go to recycle centre so is a skip the only option?

I've just come across this and was quite surprised to see gas cookers accepted in places like Ballymount too.
