Was told my 30 year old black plastic pipe (or rising main)was disintegrating and leaking... how probable is this? There is a noticeable presence of dark particles in the water at times, and there was also a buildup of muck around the old washing machine... any advice? I'm thinking of having it replaced with a newer, more durable pipe from the street to the attic tank, but don't know if plumbing contractors would consider it.
