Dishwasher won't drain ?

Has anyone got any solutions to my dishwaser problems. The dishwasher is not finishing its full cycle and then when i open it up the water wont drain away. I have cleaned out the filters and checked the outflow pipe to see if it is blocked . Any other ideas anyone ??

Most dishwashers do a pump out at the very begining of the cycle (before taking in fresh water) - if you turn the dial to the begining will the water pump out?

the other possibility is that your programme isn't finishing out - the cogs on the programme dial might have slipped or be worn.

Too much detergent can cause this problem too.

As can anything stuck in the pump area. I had a similar problem with a Zanussi job which kept stopping about 5 mins before cycle finished with all the water still in the machine.

I opened up the pump area and found some netting!! in the pump which I presume wouldn't allow it to pump the system empty. Been working fine since so I'd check that.
