Getting a dishwasher after several years of never having one - rather than put it in the usual spot by the kitchen sink - I want to have it free standing over beside the fridge on the opposite wall. The wall it would be going against backs onto where we had a downstairs WC (Since removed) but pipework is still there and intact- I wonder is it possible to us those water points to plumb in the dishwasher. (Obviously will need an outlet point for wastewater).

1. Yes
2. If old "toilet" waste pipe is still in situ you probably will be able to tap into that too.

We have an alternative dish washer in our house. It's called Leper, since I retired.

The traditional sink-side location helps reduce spills from crockery or cookware that has been pre-rinsed.

I agree with Leo,
It's up to you obviously, but carrying wet dishes and cutlery from a sink over to the dishwasher, and then carrying all the clean ones back afterwards will get old pretty fast.
