Hi,

Long time lurker here.

I am involved in the food industry and feel it would be good to have a thread about what the cost of goods (food in my case) or other products that the public consume versus what the retail cost of these items etc are?

ie stiploin steak to a supermarket costs 14 euros a kilo delivered to the shelf and between 26 euro to 42 euros to the consumer

thanks tipp

Hi Tipptop,

Welcome to AAM.

I have moved your thread to this forum which is probably the most suitable IMHO. Some price difference there on the the steak.

the price paid to farmers for produce is criminal.

The price paid for milk has been recently been reduced, but yet has it dropped in the shops ???

Why would you be a farmer ?? Farming is essential in an island nation. We can produce some real real quality food. Oh a chef and prepare it well, but what use is the chef without the farmer to get that product to the quality level he gets it at.
