Discount on new Mini?

It's funny though...the way Minis hold their value would make you think they are correctly priced. In reality, brands where large discounts are the norm seem to be overpriced with discounts almost factored in.
 
I have read that the old mini barely made a profit.
the VW golf GTI another car which you don't really get discounts from is currently made at a loss!
