Dirt Tax

HI all

I have a query in relation to dirt tax exemptioon for the over 65's , my dad has been paying dirt for the last three years , he is now 68. What does he need to do to recover the Dirt Tax he has previosluy paid ? He has filled out an exemption form so he is now exempt but is it a matter of providing a statement of DIRT previously paid by the bank and sending it into revenue ?

I think, maybe i am wrong, there is a paragraph in colm rapples column in todays Irish Examiner that touches on this. It is in some of the morning papers
