I am currently at roofing stage on a direct labour new build. What is the sequence of events once the felt goes on ?
Is it :
Slates
Plaster chimney
Soffit/Facia (?) - does this include downpipes ?
External plastering upstairs
Drop scaffolding a level
External plastering downstairs
Windows
it is a good idea to plaster and paint the chimneys before the slates go on whilst you have the scaff on site. also make sure they seal the lead. our new build is a 3 storey with 2 dormer windows to the front so dont fancy going up there after slates gone on. we also cleaned the plastic covering off the dormer windows and painted the dormers too.
the fascia guys usually put some kind of a strip in under the edge of the roof to plaster to (dont know the tech name of this).
windows/doors go in before external and internal plastering. make sure you keep the windows closed all the time when external plastering so none of the muck gets into the openings or damages your seals.
soffit/fascia does include downpipes. keep your downpipes towards the back side of the house and the back, looks better.
also, make sure you clean your windows after external plastering so as not to let the plaster bake on over the summer and make sure all the waste pipes etc are pushed out before external plastering, much better job, you dont want to be patching up afterwards.
